Time flies at the speed of light

I already promised you in several past blog posts that I wouldn't mention the fact that I can't believe it has been so long since I've posted. Six months. Really? So forget I said anything! But I hear you asking........"where have you been and what have you been doing?". I would love to say that I've been creating mountains of fabulous art, but alas, I've only created a few molehills. I also won't use that worn out saying "life gets in the way". My dad once said to me when I told him I hadn't had time to do something........"If you REALLY wanted to do it, you would have done it".

I must admit that a lot has been going on.....mostly wonderful.

In October (on Halloween actually) I found out my daughter, Jennie, and her husband, Tim, are expecting their first child in May. This announcement from my only child who told me "nope, never, ever, ever having kids". So I am THRILLED to become a grandmother. My new name is henceforth "Grannie Annie"!!
Ed and I went to Australia in November and had a fabulous time revisiting the beauty of Melbourne (where I lived for 12 years) and seeing all our old friends.

In February, my dad called me at work one Friday to say he was tired of me driving my 13 year old Jeep and that he wanted to buy me a new car. Really? Wow. Thanks, Dad!! It is a Honda Accord and the only thing it unfortunately doesn't do is cook dinner. Otherwise, it is full of bells and whistles and I am still trying to learn about all the lovely things it is capable of.

The next fabulous news was that my mom finally sold her house in Arkansas and moved to Albuquerque in March. She is all settled in at a beautiful retirement community and is so happy. Wednesday she went on an excursion and hiked three miles and today she is taking a yoga class. GO Mom!!

The only terribly sad event that happened this past Sunday is that our beloved 18 year old cat, Muffin, passed away. I was on my way home from visiting Jennie when she died in Ed's arms. She had been diabetic for over four years and we knew the end was approaching, but still....our hearts are breaking. We will always cherish the years we had with her. She was so special.

I am home sick with a cold today, so I thought I would take a few sniffly moments to catch up with all of you while I drink my chai tea.

Happy Spring. Go plant something. (literally or figuratively.....no matter!!)
