Beads of Courage

Beads of Courage is a program that was founded to help children dealing with serious illness. Beads are given to the children as they go through each medical procedure - like spinal injections, surgery, chemotherapy treatments and dialysis. As they progress through their treatments, they collect beads from their health care providers to use as symbols of their courage.
The program helps children feel more positive about their illness and treatment and leaves them with something they can use to help them talk about during treatment and after recovery.
When a child enters the program, they are given a string with some letter beads that spell out their first name. Then as each child completes another treatment, they are given a beautiful, brightly-colored bead.

I read about Beads of Courage today and want to make some cool beads to send the kids. Will anyone join me? I see that Sarah Shriver participates. GO SARAH!!
